Ave it was changed to Nelson Mandela Ave to commemorate the anti apartheid Hero and former President from South Africa, Mr. Nelson Mandela.
The Building was owned by a Namibian, then the Embassy bought the building and the land to accommodate day-to-day business of diplomats duty. The reason it was chosen as the center of embassy's activities because of its location that is in one of prominent district in Windhoek , Klein Windhoek. In this area, stand other embassies office such as Botswana High Commissioner, India High Commissioner and Malaysia High Commissioner that can be reach in minutes.
This white building has gone two phase of renovation.
First in 1992, renovation was done by building a new room for the Head of Mission, the communication Room and the reception area. The new rooms were inaugurate by the then Charge d'Affaires of the Indonesia Embassy, Mr. Soegioso Sosrosoemarso in 1992.
The second renovation was done in 1999 by adding a new multi function room, called Asia-Africa Room, which was inaugurated by then Charge d'Affaires of the Indonesia Embassy, Mr. Theo Waimuri in 1999. Since its inauguration this room has been the host of many Embassy functions. |
